Easter

G-mum and John came up from Texas to celebrate Ashton's first Easter with us and Mike and Roz had us down to their house for a royal feast.  Izzi was spoiled with some beautiful spring dresses from both of her grandmas.   (It's so much fun having a girl!) I dolled "Isadora darling" up in her cherry dress and birdy shoes from glamma after she had the chance to "dig" into her Easter basket on Sunday morning (Easter proper). Unfortunately, I didn't have the camera snapping shots of the sweet patchwork dress from "gram-R" on Saturday. Ahh, well, we have all summer, no?  You can't have Easter without flowers, and so we went out to delight in the only ones up in our yard so far this year--sweet smelling daffodils. Rather than smelling them, Izzi wanted to taste them. I'm pretty sure she managed to swallow a few petals before any of us could stop her. Ack, what can you do?

These are Rosalind and Mike's amazing silk dyed eggs--and the night before when Roz was showing off the ties to John that did the deed the next day. I can't believe how well the Martha Stewart trick turned out. We opted to dye our eggs "naturally" this year with turmeric and cabbage. It took a lot longer than we ever imagined it would, but I guess in the end it was worth it. 

The "Easter bunny" mysteriously found a "grow your own pet" once gifted from Auntie Audrey that we finally gave a whirl. It actually was quite fun to watch hatch over a 48 hour period. We're still crossing our fingers that the Co-op will have chicks on Thursday. They have been a long time coming, but we're ready for the real deal!

G-mum Ashton some shades for the season. While she's curious about them, they don't last long on her face.....yet.  Madre shared stories about Easter egg hunting with Amy when she was two (just before I was born). Auntie A always had her shades on like mum, and a little purse where she could daintily place her single treasured egg. One was enough for her in the chaos of other children scrambling to find colorful hidden treasures in the yard.  Baby A held her own this year at the First Teacher hunt, as well as at the Dungeness Kids Co. "book shelf" find.
