Big Day

Yesterday was a very big day at the Reichner's house. We turned Izzi's crib into a toddler bed (not that she really used the crib anyways!). She's always preferred the bed in her room over the crib. For that matter, we have too. Who wouldn't rather have a baby wake up all smiles rather than tears? The toddler bed quickly turned into a trampoline. She immediately climbed up and started singing "No more monkeys jumping on the bed." Although Jake and I were both chuckling, I know each of us had our moment of "Good grief. What have we done?"

The true test was nap time. She settled into her new scene nicely; however, at bedtime the back bars became a musical machine. She drummed and sang herself to sleep. I think she likes it. The new bed was just the tip of the iceberg. Our baby is becoming a little girl quickly.

After her bath when she was lotioning up I asked her if she needed to go pee and if she wanted to try the potty. She looked me straight in the eyes and said "Yeah. yeah," with a nodding head. Jake and I both loomed over her as she sat down on her own potty. She started to make the sound first, and then looked down to watch the pee actually flowing. Jake and I both became cheerleaders jumping up and down on the sideline, which startled her stream to a halt. Nonetheless, our 17 month old sat and peeed in her potty! Yeah! Yes, this is what joy is or soon will be for all those parents out there.

To top off the night, the Colts made a comeback against the Patriots, leaving my team undefeated. It was a good day.
