Bed time stories

Because of Ashton's eye teeth coming in she's had difficulty sleeping, so we've been telling each other a lot of stories in the dark (after reading several books) to fall asleep. Tonight I made up some cliche tale about a caterpillar slinking around on the forest floor until it found a tree to climb. Once it realized what the warm sun and cool breeze felt like up so high in the sky it was determined to become a butterfly. So it closed it's eyes, and went to sleep, and dreamt about flitting around in the spring air. (At this point, every time I said the word butterfly, sweet Izzi leaned in and gave me a butterfly kiss on my cheek. Then she'd follow it with a lingering squeeze hug. There is nothing more satisfying than her gentle, sensitive reactions to my stories.) Of course you all can see where this story is going--eventually the caterpillar takes flight, and eventually my daughter fell asleep. I heard a lot of restless turning later that night and went in to check on her. She must have been dreaming about flying, because she nearly dropped off the bed! The flash didn't even wake her from dreamland. Ahhhh.
