December 22, 2010

In addition to it being Auntie Lola's 25th birthday, it was also the morning that we dug into our stockings before heading off to our 20 week ultrasound.
Ashton saw Olivia peeking out of the top of her stocking first. Notice before she could do anything she had to put her princess dress on.  While she's been talking about her "racoons" for at least a month now, Olivia was the biggest hit, as this is who she chose to take to Mexico.
Olivia giving Poppie a Christmas kiss.
 Digging in for more goodies...

 Her gecko bracelet pet.

The final days of our Christmas countdown calendar popping open.
Gifts from Aunt Nan and John, and GJ. They must know what she likes, as she already has this book, but read it like it was her first time through the pages. GJ gave her a cute little necklace doll that she can wear close to her heart.

The docotor's kit.....Oh, how she loves playing doctor with her animals.
 And finally the racoons.
After opening gifts Ashton went to play with Sydney while Jake and I went to the ultrasound appointment. As we dropped Izzi off I asked her one last time if she thought she was going to have a sister or a brother. Her response: "This time I think a brother." I asked Jake the same thing, and he had a similar response. While I had a dream it was a boy when I was six weeks pregnant, I've had my doubts lately. The technician gave us very few whole perspective glimpses at the wee one. Instead she zoomed in dutifully on all the organs and bones, so it was hard for me to tell what was going on until she got the profile pic. Our second little girl was smacking her lips and sticking her tongue out while waving her hands. It was absolutely adorable. Jake said he knew about half way through our appointment that we were having a girl. After seeing how full my bladder was the technician said, "Any dreams about the sex?" I told her about my six week dream, but that I wasn't sure. That's when she said, "Well, I think it's a girl." It took Izzi a minute to digest the news--all of our friends have one of each--so I guess we just started to imagine our little family with one girl and one boy, but now she is very excited about having a sister. She keeps putting her hand up my shirt and saying, "Let me see my sister. Can I please see the baby now?" It's pretty funny.
Looking at the photo now, one would think "little sister" is trying to nurse on the placenta! Heehee.
The technician kept saying: "Look at those second toes. They are so long." Looks like she'll have Jake's feet! Unfortunately, these are the only two pics she printed off for us, even though she kept saying, "What a gorgeous baby. Can I put this image on my fridge?" We're glad that she is happy and healthy--and healthy she seems to be. My due date keeps bumping up because each time we go in she is bigger than expected. I was one day shy of 20 weeks, but her growth was one day shy of 21 weeks. We'll just have to wait and see what day she'll chose to celebrate for the rest of her life.
