Waiting Patiently
Last night we were running a little late for dinner and so decided to just do something quick-n-easy for dinner (translation: frozen pizza). Though it is not the best nutritious option, it is one Izzi most certainly is fond of. She saw the pizza come out of the freezer and yelled "Pizza time!" And then did her little dance, followed by her downward dog peek-a-boo move. We turned the wait time into "jammie time," but the pizza just wouldn't cook fast enough for our hungry little girl. When she heard the oven ding, indicating it was ready to cook at the right temperature she ran into the kitchen and proclaimed, "Pizza done." We explained the situation and Ms. Isadora said, "Okay, wait," while crossing her arms and smiling. We told her it was going to be a long wait and we appreciated her patience. Still she stood, swinging her folded arms back and forth. After a minute or two her patience worked the proximity scene. She thought if she moved closer to Poppie she could quicken the cooking--not so. You can see she eventually wore down to lounge lizard hug while waiting for her Friday night dinner.

Coloring Frenzy
It started with her birdy pencil topper, slowly moved down the chest of her jammies and ended on her cute little feet before we caught her. The pen has lost it's focus on the paper and moved to bigger and better things. Two days ago she found a vagabond crayon under the table and when I walked out of the "powder room" I found her making big blue circles on our blue wall. Though you can't see the waxy debris now, mama knows they are there and I am most certainly on patrol.
The third photo gives you a little taste of toddler twos now gracing our house when Ms. Isadora darling dear doesn't get exactly what she wants. Don't worry--Poppie comes to her rescue! She can't see the scowl on his face, but I know its there. :)
Her nick-name for the night was hairy toes. (That one better not stick.)

Blooming Magnolia
Our Valentine's Day magnolia tree has started to bloom. Ashton did really well smelling the flowers and saying, "Pretty flowers mama. Pretty," for about two minutes before picking some of the petals. I tried to explain that if she picks the buds we won't get any flowers, but rationalizing with a nearly-two-year-old is like making a cat walk on a leash. We tried it with Teanaway too, and in both cases, it simply doesn't work. (Looks like we need to remove the tag now, eh?)
G-Mum's Birthday
We went to a fun Japanese steak house for dinner. Ashton was too distracted to eat. She loved watching the chef in action, but was a little scared of the high flames.AFter dinner we went back to the new place to open gifts. Ashton had to help G-mum even though it was several hours after her bed time. G-mum and John nearly experienced more flames at the hotel at three in the morning when the fire alarm went off and they were asked to evacuate. I'd say it was quite the birthday for Mum this year.
