Last week I had a dentist appointment and I scheduled a library adventure for Jake and Izzi while my teeth were getting cleaned. Jake, exhausted from a long day at work, nearly fell asleep several times reading books to Izzi under the shelves of so many used books. Ashton's energy in a house of stories is endless, and so she went about harvesting a fine collection while Jake zombied around the facility. Unfortunately, he realized that he forgot his library card and had to sneak Izzi out of the building without scanning her stack first. Needless to say, for two days she hounded for a return to the "li-berry." On Friday she took a long nap after spending the morning dressing up in princess shoes and skirts with Sydney. The first thing she said when she woke up at 4:30 was, you guessed it, "Li-berry." So I threw her in the car and we barely made it inside the door before they turned the lights off. She frantically threw books in her bag--16 to be exact (more than I've ever let her check out at once). The only thing she cared about all weekend was her "li-berry books." When she woke up on Saturday, Jake and I tried to squeeze a few more moments of shut eye while she carted the heavy stack from room to room. After reading each one a dozen times over Ashton found a new use for her books. She realized that her animals needed a road to travel, and so built a trail of books through our house. "Just follow the library road."
