Uncle Bear's House

After our NB test we cruised over to Central Washington for Elora's lead performance in The Secret Garden. It was Ashton's first play, and I must say I was impressed by her ability to stay in her seat and enjoy the show. We used intermission to its fullest by running around trees and climbing walls outside the auditorium. After the show Izzi started to cry. I asked her what was wrong and she said, "Mama, I'm sad." "Why Izzi?" "I need a bed."
So, I dropped Jake off at the local watering hole to reunite with Bear and dance a bit to OCJ while we journeyed to Roslyn for "a bed."
The next morning we sipped coffee in the morning sun on Eric's porch. After realizing how warm it actually was, Bear asked Izzi to help him plant sunflowers. Ashton's had some practice with that lately, and knew exactly what to do.
The forest was spectacular. I love May in Central WA. It is impossible to capture on film. The lupin, basalm root and paint brush is breath taking. While we thought it would be perfect weather for the mighty morel harvest, we were wrong. It was a bit too early for the tasty feast. Ashton had fun collecting pine cones and whatnot in her purse instead. (Yes..YES... my daughter insisted on hiking with her kee-ke purse and mousie in the woods. Hummmm. Prepared? or misplaced? Let's hope it becomes a backpack in the forest rather than a purse in the city down the road.)
We ended the day at Lake CleElum (she still has the purse in hand). It was nice to let her run the beach before heading back to the homestead. This trip reminded me how much I love life on the other side of I-5. The pace slows down a bit, and friendship warms every porch.
